It depends what you mean by "in a network". It is utterly pointless
asking waffly questions like this without being specific.
So either BE specific or don't bother.

waffly??? sorry.. didn't mean to be dumb...

perhaps I might've worded it better,.. maybe networked together?

this would be for an OS/2 machine, Win7 laptop & win7 machine for
starters. eventually, maybe a 10 machine render farm.

hope this narrows it down.

No, it doesn't.

There are many different networks possible, so what kind of network does
you mean?

LAN - knowen as Local Area Network
WAN - Wide Area Networ

tcp/ip
Netbios
netbios over Ip

Does you mean a specific protocol like HTTP/HTTPS, ftp/ftps, finger, or
what?

No it doesn't. You seem to have any concept of anything apparently.

you're right.

I have no idea what type of network I could be running with this setup.

There are no problems at all when using TCP/IP. For IBM LAN requester
running NetBIOS over TCP/IP the old LM authentication should be
activated on Windows 7 and multiplexed reads/writes have to be disabled
in IBMLAN.INI (see here:

I did never succeed with LM authentication. Win 7 never sent a logon
packet that IBM Peer accepted. I always get access denied. This worked
only up to XP for me.
I cannot find any significant difference in the data sent by Win7 or eCS
during logon.

ok, thanx for the tip. will take a look at it.

are there any hardware to make this work. I was told that a regular
router is all that is needed. Tried the set up with OS/2 & win98se,
never could get it to work in early 2000.
