Windows retry #10 & older (IBM) hardware
(too old to reply)

FTR and FWIW: W10 will probably not work with eCS 1.x hardware, so
don't buy it if yoiu want a dual boot IBM ThinkPad T42p with eCS and
W10.

One may assume that it's great that eCS 3 will replace both eCS 1 and
eCS 2, hopefully with non-legacy video drivers, but if you're using
eCS 1 then the message can be that you'll have to buy a new computer.

Using IBM hardware as a reference, then an IBM ThinkPad T42p won't
work due to an unsupported CPU, but an IBM/Lenovo T60p should be
supported. Probably at least 2 CPU cores are required.

Using eCS as a reference, then you probably cannot install W10 if you
can install eCS 1.2. If so, then W7 or W8 may be the last version.

If you are using older hardware and you've installed the
buy-a-new-computer update, then you can free resources by (step 1)
uninstalling update KB3035583 and (step 2) hide it, so it won't be
installed again.

Anyway, if you can install eCS 1.2 (non-SMP equivalents), then it may
be better to forget about W10. It sounds like eCS 3 is a good solution
for you, but the message is that you'll have to buy a new computer. So
don't buy it then. If the upgrade would be free but your single
core-CPU is too old, then you can better uninstall this
buy-a-new-computer update when you're using W7 or W8/W8.1.
